    Project Engineer

    Summary

    Our client, a venture funded, sustainable aviation fuel development company has engaged GForce Life Sciences to provide a Chemical Process / Project Engineer to assist in the coordination, design, and development of their demonstration facility. The successful candidate will assist in managing projects from initial conception through final construction with the ability to lead a team and work with other engineers and stakeholders through the project phases.

    Duties / Expectations of Role

    • Project design for a wide range of projects and ability to lead external and internal teams.
    • Collaborating with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
    • Developing comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets.
    • Construction oversight and confirmation.
    • Plant commissioning.
    • Use of relevant codes and standards.
    • Reviews submittals for compliance with plans and specifications and other construction documents.
    • Maintains logs, tracks outstanding submittals, creates schedules based upon a thorough review of specification requirements.
    • Keeps up to date on construction drawings and as-builts.
    • Knowledge of instrumentation. Engineering of processes handling of flammable and combustible liquids.
    • Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM), environmental and other regulatory requirements.
    • Project Management includes development of bid packages, review of drawings, oversight of contractors, budgeting, and scheduling.
    • Development of individual project requirements (Scope of Work) based on input for corporate requirements, potential cost savings, increased uptime, etc.
    • Execute process engineering relating to capital projects and continuous plant improvements.
    • Directs activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and internal requirements.
    • Supervises the preparation of, reviews and endorses bid analyses and recommendations for procurement of equipment material and services within the engineering scope of responsibility.
    • Specify materials and equipment for purchase, using data sheets when required. Write equipment specifications for purchase.
    • Source and cost-justify new equipment to improve manufacturing process.
    • Request proposals and other contract document changes from subcontractors with changes, reviews with project team, and distributes to appropriate internal teams and subcontractors.
    • Keeps up to date on submittals, requests for proposals, responses, project changes, and work progress, especially the items that could delay a project or cause a loss, if installed incorrectly.
    • Reviews project engineering progress against approved schedules, evaluates changes and takes corrective action when required.
    • Ensures that Technical Risk Assessments are comprehensive and complex, safety practices and procedures are implemented, and engineering design documentation comply with project quality assurance plan and procedures.
    • Monitors and enforces, along with other project teams, the clients safety and OSHA safety standards to maintain a safe working environment for all employees, subcontractors, and site visitors.

    Mandatory Requirements

    • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering required.
    • Minimum of seven (7) years experience managing capital projects for chemical processing and/or equipment.
    • Must have experience in capital project engineering including bids/pricing, scope of work, risks, budgeting, scheduling, execution, and close-out.
    • Proficient knowledge of project engineering processes and procedures.
    • Knowledge of related operation practices and the economics involved and current knowledge of new methods of design and construction.
    • Knowledge of industry/regulatory codes and standards and design criteria pertinent to the particular discipline.
    • Experience with or knowledge of non-engineering functions such as project controls, construction, startup, or estimating.
    • Experience leading large complex projects.
