- provide day-to-day support for in vivo research utilizing small and large animal models of cardiovascular disease;
- assist and advise postdoctoral researchers, students or other trainees conducting cardiovascular research in the laboratory;
- participate in administrative operations, budgeting, ordering of supplies and preparation and submission of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee ( IACUC ) protocols.
- Associate's Degree in Biology, Veterinary Science or other health sciences field
- Experience working as part of a team in an academic research laboratory
- Desire and ability to learn new skills quickly
- Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently
- Willing to work extra hours if needed for animal monitoring or care
- A Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in Biology, Veterinary Science or other health sciences field
- Research experience in the handling and use of animals and histological techniques (e.g. immunohistochemistry)
- Experience and/or an interest in molecular methods and experience in large animal surgical methods
