Job Description

A per diem staff pharmacist position is available, focusing on mail order pharmacy operations within a long-term care environment. The role requires working Wednesday through Saturday from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM, covering the period from March 25 through April 11.

Responsibilities include:

• Accepting and dispensing prescription medications accurately.
• Monitoring patient medication compliance and identifying patterns of over-usage.
• Ensuring prescriptions are appropriate and compliant with legal standards.
• Maintaining confidential patient records and pharmacy files meticulously.
• Advising patients on medication use, potential side effects, and answering questions.
• Providing consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including dosage and drug interactions.
• Offering patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
• Educating patients on the proper use of medical devices like blood pressure monitors and glucose meters.
• Compounding medications for internal and external use, including preparing sterile solutions.
• Supervising pharmacy staff members including technicians and clerks.
• Managing inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies.
• Identifying drug-related issues and collaborating with physicians and healthcare practitioners.

Qualifications:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required.
• Valid Nevada Pharmacy license.
• Experience in long-term care pharmacy is highly preferred.
• Strong communication and supervisory skills.
