    General Information:

    James Madison University's School of Accounting (SOA) invites applications for an Assistant or Associate tenure-track or tenured position starting fall 2024. We invite applicants with qualifications to teach and conduct research in any area of accounting. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on university and department-established standards.

    The SOA offers the BBA and MSA degrees and first received separate AACSB accounting accreditation in 1985. We were the first accounting program in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the 23rd in the country to receive separate accounting accreditation by AACSB. The SOA's faculty members work together in a highly collegial environment and have published in high-quality journals. The SOA has strong ties to the profession and is viewed as a prime recruiting school by accounting employers.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    This position requires teaching undergraduate and graduate accounting courses, conducting research leading to quality peer-reviewed publications, and providing service to students, the department, the profession, and the university in accordance with the College of Business Guidelines for Faculty Qualifications. The teaching load for this position is nine credit hours per semester (3/3).

    Qualifications:

    Required:
    -A terminal degree in accounting or taxation from an AACSB-accredited institution is required. In addition, candidates must demonstrate the potential for a future or continuing stream of quality scholarly research and excellence in teaching commensurate with the position rank.

    Preferred:
    -Professional certification (CPA, CMA, or related accounting certificates).
    -Professional accounting experience.
