- Develop and implement effective language development curriculum and instruction that aligns with state and district standards and meets the needs of English Language Learners at various proficiency levels.
- Provide targeted language instruction and support to ELLs in small groups, individualized sessions, and co-taught classroom settings to facilitate English language acquisition across content areas.
- Collaborate with content area teachers to differentiate instruction, modify materials, and implement research-based strategies to support ELLs' access to grade-level content and academic success.
- Assess students' language proficiency and monitor their progress using formal and informal assessment measures, and use data to inform instructional planning and intervention strategies.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment that celebrates cultural diversity, promotes mutual respect and understanding, and encourages ELLs to take risks and participate actively in their learning.
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and community stakeholders to support ELLs' academic and social-emotional needs and promote home-school partnerships.
- Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in ELL instruction, cultural competency, and effective pedagogical practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, ESL, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Valid teaching license in North Carolina or eligibility for licensure in ESL/ELL education.
- Prior experience working with English Language Learners in a school or educational setting.
- Strong understanding of second language acquisition theory, ELL pedagogy, and culturally responsive teaching practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education and a passion for supporting the academic and linguistic development of ELLs.
