- Cleans building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
- Follows procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
- Dusts and washes furniture, walls, machines, and equipment; cleans ceilings and high dusts and polishes light fixtures.
- Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, crates and equipment to clean areas, either manually or by using hand trucks
- May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions
- Mixes water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications
- Strips, seals, finishes, and polishes floors
- Cleans and vacuums carpeted areas, including application of spot cleaning treatment
- Performs various custodial functions to include: gathers and empties trash, wipes and cleans tabletops, chairs, and equipment, cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures, services, deep cleans, and supplies restrooms
- Periodically cleans overhead vents, dusts blinds, and polishes wood furniture
- Cleans interior partition glass, windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees
- Requisitions supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
- Monitors building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and possibly checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created
- Drives vehicles (if required) to perform assigned scheduled work
- Provide supervision, guidance and training to a small crew as assigned
- May be expected to make basic repairs
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned
- Travel on the road to various assigned locations/ transportation and lodging provided
- High School Diploma.
- One year of demonstrated floor care experience, two years preferred.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Must maintain a satisfactory driving record.
- You are required to be in possession of a car on site during your entire shift to transport yourself to various work locations.
- Depending upon assignment, must be able to work in a variety of settings, weather conditions and locations.
- Knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office, the internet, or smart device apps.
- Work a flexible schedule based on project assignment that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
- Utilize equipment and work materials, which frequently include lifting, carrying, pushing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching and climbing.
- Move and lift weights up to 100 lbs. on an occasional basis.
- Work independently, utilize good judgment, and possess a strong sense of initiative.
- Communicate clearly in oral and written form on a constant basis.
- Operate various janitorial equipment including carpet shampooer, burnisher, extractor, buffing machine, etc.
