    The Nurse Practitioner (NP) plays a vital role in providing health assessments, diagnoses, interventions, and follow-up care to community residents according to regulations, policies, and objectives. By delivering various health interventions, the NP significantly impacts the health of individuals, families, and the community, enhancing the efficiency of health center operations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Deliver professional nursing care and community health services.
    • Create, implement, and adjust client and family education programs.
    • Conduct health surveillance and preventive activities for population health improvement.
    • Provide expert knowledge in primary health care.

    The candidate should hold a Graduate Level Advanced Nursing Practice degree or equivalent. Candidates who have completed a Nurse Practitioner competency challenge will be considered. NP registration with Registered Nurses Association of Northwest Territories and Nunavut (RNANTNU) is required. Prior NP experience is preferred.

    This position requires a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check.

    Fluency in Inuktut, English, or French is mandatory, and familiarity with multiple languages is an advantage. Understanding Inuit communities, culture, and cross-cultural environments is beneficial.

    Recruitment bonuses, retention bonuses, and other premiums are offered for full-time permanent nurses.

    An eligibility list may be established for future openings.

    • Prioritization will be given to Nunavut Inuit candidates under the Priority Hiring Policy.
    • Government of Nunavut employees on probation must obtain written authorization from their department head.
    • Candidates with international education credentials should have them assessed by a Canadian institution.
