    Responsibilities Draper Laboratory is seeking talented and motivated individuals to tackle challenging engineering problems in communications. As a Communications engineer, you will be responsible to apply your expertise developing and evaluating novel communication technologies. You will develop and implement special communication systems to enable new capabilities for a wide diversity of applications.

    You will work in a fast paced environment, collaborating in multi-disciplinary teams with opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute to a variety of projects in this area.

    Applicants will assist or lead in the design, development, modeling & simulation, implementation, and evaluation of communication systems and waveform design.

    They should have experience in either PHY layer topics, waveform design, or channel modeling for demanding applications and various environments.


    Specific Responsibilities:
    Developing and implementing signal processing algorithms for comms systems
    Modeling and simulating components of a communication system
    Designing waveforms to meet specific requirements for a given application
    Performing laboratory experiments and evaluating fieldable prototypes of comms systems
    Qualifications


    Required Qualifications :
    BS +4yr, MS +2yr, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or similar
    Proven experience with communication systems
    Strong background in communications and RF theory
    Lab testing experience and ability to work on fast paced projects, doing quick-turn experiments and rapid prototyping

    Desired Qualifications :
    Proven record designing waveforms for various applications and environments
    Knowledge of signal processing concepts for communications, detection & estimation theory
    Background PHY layer topics, like modulation schemes, coding, channel modeling
    Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools like MATLAB and experience with Python
    Experience implementing fieldable prototypes and doing their testing and validation
    Background in wireless technologies, like 5G, LTE-M, or mmWave
    Knowledge of low probability of intercept/detection (LPI/LPD) techniques
    Familiarity with Machine Learning techniques in communications

    Security Requirement :
    Applicants selected for this position will be required to obtain and maintain a government security clearance, with ability to acquire Top Secret
