    Overview:


    Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP), under the supervision of the Supervisor and/or Lead Therapist shall deliver all types of respiratory modalities to patients as established by the departments standard operating procedures.

    The RCP must have the knowledge and skills needed to carry out these procedures.

    His/Her knowledge must include pharmacology as it pertains to Respiratory Therapy Drugs, Cardiopulmonary Anatomy, Physiology, Acid-Base Analysis, Electrocardiography, Bronchoscopy, Holter Monitoring, C-Section stand-by, Neonatal Intubation, Pulmonary Function and Treadmill Testing.

    As well, must include indications and absolute contradictions for IPPB, Oxygen Administration, Chest Physiotherapy, Aerosol Administration and Mechanical Ventilator. Demonstrates proper skill to attend all high risk deliveries. Competent in managing the Drager Baby Log

    Qualifications:
    NICU Level III or above experience required. Current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of California. (Registered Respiratory Therapist preferred). Graduate from an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy Technician program and is credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Therapy. Minimum two years experience including clinical experience preferred.

    Exhibits self-direction in completing assigned patient care duties but is not required to make independent judgments regarding changes in care given to his/her patients.

    Current CPR, NRP. ACLS and PALS required.
