    SUMMARY:
    Under general supervision, but following established policies and procedures, performs a broad range of services including training.

    This position will ensure that incoming team members have the necessary skills to successfully perform their job while delivering outstanding member service.

    This position is responsible for posting transactions in a variety of credit union computer systems, managing and balancing cash under their control, and maintaining control of the negotiable instruments accessed.

    This position calls for a great deal of accuracy, while maintaining a high degree of productivity. This position supports sales and service initiatives by identifying and referring cross sales or distributing marketing materials to members. This position works closely with the Training Department to ensure all new tellers receive OJT training. Excellent member service is mandatory for this position. Position will involve motivating, influencing and training other team members.


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Performs as a lead team member when mentoring other team members.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    Maintains high level of professionalism, including personal appearance with name tag visibility
    Requires excellent organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, communication skills and writing/grammar skills are necessary.

    Promotes teamwork, demonstrates superior member service, is an advocate to help support other departments/branches, and acts as a positive role model for all other team members.

    Establishes good member rapport, including greeting members immediately, eye contact, smile, conveying a willingness to help the member and using the members name (3 times) in the conversation.

    Close the conversation with offering additional assistance and sincerely thanking the member.
    Recommends products/services that will benefit the member. Refers the member to lender for additional information.
    Works directly with the Training Department to help improve training processes for the organization.
    Possesses skill sets to adjust OJT training material according to learning/behavior style.

    Represents KFCU as the subject matter expert in area of teller expertise and provides support for team members during the OJT process.

    Actively participates in Sales & Referral process to achieve teller/branch goals.
    Actively assists with testing new products/procedures.
    Willingly accepts override responsibilities.
    Mentors new & existing team members as needed.
    Possesses the skill set to process transactions and deliver exceptional member service in a drive thru environment.
    Actively participates in daily branch huddles, including conducting huddles as needed.
    Possesses patience and a desire to train and develop team members.

    Following credit union policies and procedures, properly identifies members (including account ownership) for whom they are conducting transactions or providing account information.

    Accepts deposits and payments and performs withdrawal or loan advances within assigned dollar limits of authority.

    These transactions are performed on a variety of checking and savings products as well as a variety of loan types, including credit cards.

    At the conclusion of a member interaction, reads back members receipts in order to verify and finalize the accuracy of the transaction.

    Maintains control of cash by verifying all cash received and disbursed according to cash handling procedures.

    The purchase and sale of cash with other staff members or the vault verified under dual control and immediately posted in Symitar.

    Adding machine tape is maintained in good order as an additional audit trail for cash accepted and disbursed from the cash drawer.

    Verifies checks for deposit are made payable to parties presenting them for negotiation, properly endorsed, and deposited or credited for payment in accordance with credit union policy, and if applicable to Reg CC.

    Utilizes True Checks within prescribed guidelines.

    Based on a determination of collectability, the actual check and the member presenting the item; the teller may be required to deposit the item to a share account under an extended hold.

    Supervisor approval will be required for accepting negotiable instruments above the dollar limit of authority.

    Provides account information such as current balances, transaction history, dates & amounts of deposits and loan pay-offs, only for the member account owner(s).

    Works to resolve members concerns, complaints, discrepancies, and problems through the use of available resources, effective use of KFCU computer systems and product knowledge.

    Refers problems through the chain-of-command for resolution. Utilizes the Synapsys CRM to effectively track member concerns.
    Balances cash fund and check batches daily and assists in balancing disbursed checks, check batches, and bonds.

    To be balanced means that the cash and check totals for the teller match with the Symitar system totals and cash adding machine tape, and physical check count in the teller batches.

    The teller is responsible for management of their own work and also compliance with those controls that impact branch balancing.

    Maintains security over cash and other valuables in accordance with established procedures.

    This means protecting information by ensuring it is protected from public view while working and secured in locked areas when not present.

    When required by policy or instructed by the Teller Supervisor, follows dual control procedures for cash and negotiable instruments. The teller never allows cash under their control to be left unsecured.
    Maintains strict confidentiality of member and team member information.

    Maintains proficiency in Symitar, COWWW, Synergy, Synapsys CRM, Outlook, Microsoft Office, and any other computer programs deemed necessary to perform the job functions of teller.

    Ensures the workspace is neat, organized and well stocked with supplies.

    Performs ATM frontline maintenance and balances the ATMs in the branch or drive through lanes as directed and in accordance with credit union procedures, which has elements of dual control that must be followed.

    Processes night depository and ATM deposits as directed and in accordance with credit union procedures, which has elements of dual control that must be followed.

    Orders and statuses through card wizard. Handles ATM and debit card disputes and fraud disputes.

    Completes, with an acceptable grade, all training for the position of teller as directed by management and actively participates in training classes.

    Responsible for compliance with all Federal regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and Red Flag Program.

    Education:
    A high school education or GED.


    Experience and Other Requirements:
    Minimum 1 year of teller experience.
    Must possess working knowledge of credit union regulations, policies & procedures.

    Must be able to read and interrupt policies and procedures in order to translate to team members during the OJT training process.

    Teller balancing records, cash handling records and negotiable instruments accepted should be reviewed by Branch Management to ensure the Teller Specialist meets or exceeds expectations and required skill sets.

    Demonstrated ability to operate PC equipment, teller terminals, various printers, calculator, and currency counter accurately and at a generally accepted rate of speed.

    Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment with all levels of team members, management and members.
    Must possess excellent basic math skills; accuracy and attention to detail required.
    Must maintain confidentiality at all times and display dependability in all areas of job duties.
    Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with a wide range of internal & external members. Writing and Grammar skills mandatory.
    Must attend and complete Products & Services Mini Series within 6 months of accepting position.
    Must attend and complete Teller Training as a refresher within 6 months of accepting position.


    Interpersonal Skills:
    A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required in addition to normal courtesy and tact.

    Work normally involves contacts with persons beyond immediate associates generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information, which may require some discussion.

    Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors) requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.

    Computer Skills:

    365Must be proficient in Microsoft 365, Microsoft Teams, Excel, One Note and Outlook e-mail.
    Must be able to navigate the internet to search for data and be able to complete online forms.
    Somewhat knowledgeable of emerging computer technology, such as mobile devices, imaging technology, and social media.
    Familiarity with home banking and bill paying services.
