    The Engineering Manager will be primarily responsible for leading the Rockwood and Glass Solutions Engineering product development and sustaining engineering teams in the development and standardization of engineering processes, procedures, technical information maintenance of product categories and additionally provide operations engineering support. This position will lead and support the implementation of products and processes for existing and new product groups and operational improvement projects. Additionally, this position will provid accurate and efficient access to engineering data and will assure the retention of Engineering knowledge and talent for the future.

    Responsibilities:

    • Support, standardize and lead the implementation of methods, processes and procedures for Engineering support of NPD with all existing Product Groups.
    • Support, provide technical leadership subject matter expertise that supports operations related quality assurance, 8D root cause analysis, and production work instructions and assembly aids.
    • Provide leadership and support of operations engineering and project activities.
    • Product Benchmarking, VA/VE development and reporting, DFMEA Analysis, Project reporting, Testing and Validation, and First Article Sampling / Approval of new products and materials.
    • Provide support and necessary data for technical product support to include:
      • Customer Technical Support Call Center Group
      • Lead all customer and factory required engineering support for the order entry, manufacturing and product processes.
      • Support technical analysis and decision making related to quality issues, customer returns (RGA), and potential field application/install issues.
    • Facilitate and lead VA/VE, and Product / Process FMEA analyses for the group
    • Facilitate Supplier / Vendor audits and review to ensure capability of products and materials
    • Development and implementation of strategies for Product Data, Document Management (PDM), and sustain formalized Engineering Change Process for the team.
    • Development and implementation of strategies to support and facilitate product gateway (NPD process), project management tools & PDM to ensure successful launch of NPD through to production on time across all product groups
    • Lead Engineering Change Management Process
      • Standardization of NPD and existing product change processes
      • Processes development for reviewing and reporting of metrics
    • Engineering Software Coordination & Management
      • CAD & Engineering software platform management
      • License Compliance
      • User & License Management

    Qualifications / Experience:

    • BS Degree in Engineering, Mechanical preferred, MBA preferred
    • Project Management Experience and/or Certification a plus
    • Subject matter expert in relevant opening/hardware regulatory & code compliance
    • Strong people leader/coach; driving continuous improvement to team processes, team development, communication, cross-functional coordination, and conflict management.
    • Minimum experience of 5 to 10 years including 2 years in a leadership role managing an engineering team.
    • Experience working in a collaborative Global organization
    • Strong background in technology and technical leadership in driving company's long term technology roadmap.
    • Proven track record of taking new products from inception through development and successful commercialization.
    • Experienced with innovations systems driven by Lean Principals and a Gate-Way development process
    • Experience using development tools such as FMEA, GD&T, DFM&A, DVP&R, Altium, PCCAD, Solidworks 3D, MS Project and Root Cause Analysis
    • Demonstrated experience managing intellectual property creation and portfolio management.
    • Strong oral presentation and written communication skills
    • Highly Proficient with MS Office Suite, including MS Project
    • Energetic and self-driven
    • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
    • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
    • Willingness to travel 10% estimated time.
