    Description

    Salud Para La Gente (SALUD) provides high quality, comprehensive and cost-effective healthcare to underserved low-income communities in the Monterey Bay area, including Santa Cruz County and North Monterey County. We began in Watsonville in 1978 as a storefront "free clinic". With the ever growing need for health services, in 1992 we became a federally qualified community health center (FQHC). Today we are a primary health care network with 11 clinic sites, over 400 employees, and continue to provide high quality services to patients of all ages.

    We are seeking a dynamic, organized and detail-oriented Associate Chief Medical Officer - Family Practice to provide medical administration for a non-profit community health clinic and its staff and perform duties and responsibilities of the Family Medicine Physician under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer and in close working relationships with the Clinic Manager.

    DIRECT PATIENT CARE:

    1. Develop a panel of patients to provide comprehensive health care in an attentive and conscientious manner
    2. Perform direct patient care, including history taking, physical examination, lab and radiology ordering and interpretation, prescription of medications, immunizations and lifestyle modifications using established medical guidelines
    3. Perform procedures or minor surgery and assist with major surgery per documented training and clinical privileges
    4. Collaborate with supporting services at Salud to provide holistic care to patients, including but not limited to Community Health Services, Pediatrics, OB, Behavioral Health, Dental, etc.
    5. Refer secondary conditions to specialists when appropriate
    6. Institute emergency measures in life-threatening situations
    7. Record all medical encounters in a timely and complete manner in the electronic health record
    8. Work with scheduling and management staff to ensure provider productivity standards
    PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT:
    1. Adhere to clinic communication guidelines and expectations with internal and external customers including co-workers, patients, and external partners.
    2. Communicate respectfully and effectively with people of different racial, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds and lifestyles
    3. Demonstrate professional and productive collaboration with healthcare team
    4. May assist with recruitment of physicians/advanced practice clinicians
    5. May form liaisons with appropriate professional societies, educational institutions and community organizations to enhance clinic ability to deliver medical care to target population.
    6. Adhere to departmental policies, procedures and objectives, ongoing quality improvement efforts and safety, environmental and infection control standards
    7. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all federal and state patient confidentiality laws
    8. Other duties as assigned.
    Requirements

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Valid California Physician's License OR Nurse Practitioner license OR Physician Assistant license.
    • Maintains an updated CPR certificate, valid California driver's license, and valid DEA license; submits copies of renewed licenses and certificates to Human Resources.
    • Board Certified or Board Qualified in Family Medicine, preferred.
    • Fluent Spanish/English.
    • Eligible for Physician's Assistant Supervisory license (applies to Physician only).
    • Ability to obtain/maintain hospital admitting privileges at local hospital.
    • Prior administrative experience or desire to obtain it.

    Salary: $228, $261,514.22/year
