Weekend/On Call:
Every third weekend; 12 hours of call per 4-week schedule

Job Requirements (Labor & Delivery Nurse)

Minimum 2 years of recent labor & delivery nursing experience (L&D RN, high-acuity maternal care)

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Virginia or compact state accepted

Required certifications:
BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Fetal Monitoring

Clinical proficiency in vaginal deliveries, Cesarean sections (C-sections), antepartum, newborn, and postpartum care

Experience with GE fetal monitors and EMR systems (Meditech, CPN) preferred

Strong teamwork and communication skills; ability to collaborate with obstetrics, pediatrics, nursery nurses, and unit leadership

Responsibilities (L&D RN / Labor & Delivery)

Provide direct patient care and continuous assessment for laboring mothers throughout the birthing process

Monitor maternal and fetal status using fetal monitoring systems and respond to changes in condition

Assist with vaginal deliveries and Cesarean sections; provide hands-on support during procedures

Deliver comprehensive antepartum, newborn, and postpartum nursing care, including newborn assessment and early bonding support

Maintain accurate clinical documentation in EMR systems and follow unit protocols

Uphold safety and security protocols, including infant security measures and safe handoff practices

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary care team to ensure high-quality maternal and neonatal outcomes
