Job Title: Quality Assurance Supervisor
Schedule: Monday – Friday and some Saturdays as needed (8:00am to 4:30pm)
Reports to: Director of Quality Assurance

Position Overview
The Quality Assurance Supervisor plays a pivotal role in day-to-day QA operations by ensuring the quality, integrity, and consistency of all incoming raw materials and finished products. As a supervisor, this role has responsibilities for multiple QA Technicians and Leads as well as a responsibility to perform QA duties as needed.
Responsibilities & Duties
· Oversee day-to-day operations of the QA department, guiding, delegating, and verifying work.
· Provides employee mentoring, coaching and development. Schedules staffing and resource needs for day-to-day production support, calibration, product traceability, product sampling, pre-operational inspections, and other special projects.
· Training and development of Quality Assurance team to ensure full understanding of food safety and quality programs and department SOP's.
· Plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures, and recommends improvements in quality methods, equipment, and standard operating procedures.
· Monitor and update existing SQF, SOP, and QA programs, procedures, and document control programs.
· Assists with the implementation, auditing, and execution of food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance policies and establishes performance standards, procedures, and audit controls.
· Compiles, analyzes, and communicates quality and food safety-related information.
· Document and maintain quality control standards and ongoing quality control objectives.
· Documents, implements and inspects criteria and procedures.
· Ensures all quality and food safety programs are being followed on the floor by regularly inspecting the production floor.
· Monitor and support Tropos review, including charts for verification and validation of SQF requirements.
· Prepare product and process quality reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing microbiological and environmental trends.
· Manages departmental performance measures and provides regular progress reports.
· Ensure that the company's hold and release program is properly implemented, including placing defective raw material, WIP and finished goods on appropriate QA status
· Collaboration with management team to ensure timely disposition of hold materials.
· Work with Operations and Maintenance team on investigation and root cause analysis on customer and internal quality and food safety concerns.
· Implement timely corrective and preventive actions.
· May perform additional duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS:
· B.S. Degree preferred in microbiology, food science, or chemistry.
· Minimum 7 years of industry experience in food safety and quality areas.
· Minimum of 2-3 years of leadership experience required.
· Must have knowledge on Safe Quality Food (SQF), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), Internal Auditing, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
· HACCP and PCQI certification are a plus.
Food Safety Requirements:
· Prioritize food safety, quality, and sanitation by understanding and executing food safety and sanitation policies and procedures.
· Hold self and others accountable to SQF food safety & sanitation guidelines and policies by communicating any food safety incident, observation, or opportunity to your leadership team or teammates.
· In the absence of manager, serves as back up to ensure all food safety, quality objectives and SQF system requirements are met.
Physical Requirements
· 50% + walking and 50% sitting and/or standing.
· Frequent temperature variations in production facility and warehouse environment.
· Ability to lift to 25 lbs.
