    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    A bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business, Finance or a related discipline is required, along with a minimum of 7 years' experience handling liability and or Georgia workers' compensation claims, at least two years of which must be at the supervisory level.

    The position requires specialized knowledge and experience in the general principles of public liability, liability and workers' compensation claims processes, and the associated laws.

    In addition, the position requires knowledge of the principles of risk transfer, risk funding, insurance types and related contracts, basic actuarial concepts, reserving practices, indemnification, and risk management program development, implementation


    INTERVIEW SELECTION PROCESS: The selection process may include one or more components to demonstrate applicants' knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and/or competency assessments.


    SUMMARY

    This position manages all self-insured/self-administered claim related responsibilities for the Authority.

    As a part of this function, the position handles auto liability/property damage, general liability, employment practices, workers' compensation, modified duty/return to work and other claims as required.

    The position is also responsible for analysis, reporting, policy development, communication and recordkeeping as it relates to claims management.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


    • Manages and oversees claim administration activities of the Authority including the investigation, evaluation, and adjudication of auto liability/property damage, general liability, workers' compensation and employment practices liability claims.
    • Monitors and implements post loss reduction techniques such as salvage, subrogation and workers' compensation medical cost containment services (nurse case management, medical bill fee schedule and utilization review).
    • Serves as the Subject Matter Expert within the ORIGAMISRISK risk management information system to leverage software functionality and continuously improve overall operational efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Develops, prepares, and oversees all current and future monthly, bi-monthly and annual reporting requirements for all claims related information. Implements and oversees the management of the quality assurance program for claims work product and conducts periodic file reviews for all lines of coverage reporting results and corrective actions to Director.
    • Manages the personnel required to perform all claims function including, hiring, performance management, training and development
    • Provides technical assistance to the Director as required including: research, special projects, report development, data analysis, reserve adequacy reviews, support preparation of insurance renewals and/or other assignments.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Supervises eight staff members including:
    Senior Adjusters (2), Liability Claims Adjusters (3), and Workers' Compensation Adjusters (3).


    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
    Preference will be given to candidates who hold some or all the following licenses/certifications: Workers Compensation and Liability Adjuster (GA), Associate in Claims (AIC), Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
