    Job Title: Direct Support Professional

    Division: School for Adaptive and Integrative Learning

     

    About the Job:

    We are seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals. As a DSP, you will play a critical role in providing person-centered supports and services to individuals with developmental disabilities.

    Your primary responsibilities will include assisting individuals with daily living skills, such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration. You will also be responsible for creating a safe and inclusive environment, promoting independence, and encouraging socialization and community integration.

    In this role, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized program plans, which address the unique needs and goals of each individual. You will also provide ongoing support and guidance to help individuals achieve their maximum potential.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Direct Care: Assist individuals with daily living skills, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
    • Support Independence:** Encourage individuals to make choices and decisions, promote self-advocacy, and support independence in all aspects of life.
    • Community Integration:** Facilitate opportunities for socialization and community integration, including participation in recreational activities, education, and employment.
    • Documentation:** Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individual progress, including goal setting, achievement, and any challenges or concerns.

    Qualifications:

    • Possession of a High School Diploma or Equivalent:** A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience in the field of ID/DD support services is preferred.
    • Orientations Completion:** Successful completion of the SAIL Direct Support Professional orientation is mandatory.
    • Clearance Requirements:** Candidates must meet additional requirements to provide care to the developmentally disabled, including clearance through the New York State Justice Center Criminal Background Check system, NYS Child Abuse Registry Clearance, Staff Exclusion List Check, and MHL check.

    Working Hours:

    This position requires working varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. A flexible schedule is essential to meet the needs of our individuals and ensure 24/7 coverage.
