    CFD Research is seeking highly qualified candidates for a Real-Time RF Scene Generation Engineer position. This candidate will drive RF Target Simulations in support of the Air Force Research Laboratory's (AFRL) open-loop and closed-loop Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) testing. This position will evaluate innovative technologies and methods while developing and maintaining a real-time RF scene generation capability which integrates into the existing KHILS RF HWIL system, and create an in-house capability for developing synthetic RF target signatures, backgrounds, and validating them. This includes synthetic RF signatures that are compared to software such as X-Patch, Lucernhammer, Ansys HFSS, IRMA, CSG, etc., with focus on IV&V'd software.

    Real-time RF Scene generation is a difficult and important problem to be solved. The person in this role will be at the forefront of solution development in this exciting field. This position will be working onsite at Eglin, AFB in support of AFRL/RW (Munitions Directorate) Kinetic Hardware-in-the-loop Simulation (KHILS) facility.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Master's degree (M.S.) or Doctorate (PhD) in electrical engineering or physics
    • Strong theoretical and computational background with demonstrated work history using graphical processing units (GPUs) and/or field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) to enhance the runtime of tools and models
    • Demonstrated work history performing software design and programming
    • Understanding of optical scattering phenomena such as ray tracing and diffraction
    • Working knowledge of one or more radar modeling tools such as Xpatch, Lucernhammer, CSG, etc.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience beyond the educational background
    • Candidate must reside in close proximity to Eglin AFB and be able to work in office and attend briefings/meetings.
    • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain an active DoD Top-Secret clearance.
    • The candidate must be able to communicate effectively with engineering team, AFRL leadership, and project management team.
    Location: This role is based at Eglin AFB, near Fort Walton Beach, FL area, and is 100% onsite.
