Role Summary

The Civil Laborer supports civil crews by assisting with installation, material staging, cleanup, and general labor tasks. This role helps maintain safe work areas, ensures tools and materials are ready for production, and follows all safety and quality expectations. The Civil Laborer contributes directly to crew productivity and supports the Civil Foreman in daily field operations.

Core Responsibilities

Build Install

• Assists with civil installation tasks such as grading, utilities, and layout support.
• Prepares tools, materials, and work areas for assigned tasks.
• Follows Foreman direction to complete work safely and accurately.

Material Staging

• Unloads, organizes, and stages materials to support workflow.
• Ensures materials are accessible and stored properly during operations.
• Communicates shortages or material needs to the Foreman.

Cleanup

• Maintains clean and organized work areas throughout the shift.
• Removes debris and supports end‑of‑day cleanup activities.
• Ensures housekeeping meets KCS jobsite standards.

Personal Tools

• Maintains personal tools in proper working condition.
• Ensures required tools are available each day.
• Reports missing or damaged tools promptly.

Safety Compliance

• Follows all KCS and jobsite safety procedures and PPE requirements.
• Participates in daily safety discussions and hazard identification.
• Reports unsafe conditions or behaviors immediately.
