    Job Description

    AECOM is seeking a motivated Traffic Engineer to join our Santa Fe, NM or Albuquerque, NM office to support projects and clients locally and throughout the Southwest United States. This is a hybrid role that allows a flexible working schedule, and is a great opportunity to join a dynamic team that continues to win high profile projects and shape the communities around us.

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Support a team of professionals to deliver:

    • Traffic design plans including traffic control, signing & striping, street lighting, and traffic signals.
    • Traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, traffic simulation, and conceptual planning/design.
    • Traffic signal timing optimization and coordination.
    • Opportunities for cross-discipline design including roadway.
    • Plan sheets, specifications & estimates, technical memoranda, reports, presentations and other project documentation.
    • ITS or emerging technology projects following the systems engineering process.
    • Serve in various roles on traffic/ITS projects.
    • Actively participate in the team's production of technical deliverables ranging from plans, specifications, estimates, reports, memorandums, etc.
    • Work with Early in Career staff and help review technical work and project documentation.
    • Deliver assigned tasks on schedule and budget, while adhering to AECOM quality standards.
    • Coordinate directly with other discipline groups within AECOM, as well as with external clients and sub-consultants.
    • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
    • Independently performs all the tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
    • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Preferred minimum 4 years of experience with an emphasis in civil engineering fields such as traffic control design, signing and striping design, traffic signal design, street lighting design, traffic studies, ITS engineering, traffic staging within Agency and DOT standards and projects.
    • Registered EIT / FE with plans to obtain the PE when first available.
    • Good Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience using Traffic and Traffic Simulation Software and design platforms.
    • Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD and OpenRoads.
    • Ability to work as a member of a team or perform independent work as required.
    • Good interpersonal skills, good command of the English language both, verbally and written, the ability to express thoughts clearly, good time management skills, and a good attitude towards work.
