    Area Agency on Aging and Community Action Agency for Northwest Indiana, founded in 1965, the NWICA Mission is to ensure the people who experience financial hardship find opportunities, resources, and respect. We do this by helping individuals of all ages and families, through direct services and referrals.
    Serving residents in Lake, Porter, Jasper, Newton, LaPorte, Pulaski, and Starke Counties

    Revenues: $35 million.

    FUNCTION:

    Reporting to the Financial Services Manager, the Financial Stability Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination and implementation of the Individual Development Account program. The Financial Stability Coordinator will also provide housing counseling for Financial Services clients including information on all aspects of homeownership from pre-purchasing requirements to foreclosure prevention and rental, with a heavy focus on financial coaching as a HUD Housing Counselor. He/she must be efficient in analyzing credit reports and be an effective financial coach assisting clients with meeting their financial goals. He/she must be able to convey suggestions/ideas in constructive, nonjudgmental and professional manner. Major functions of the position include direct service to a client caseload, providing financial literacy education, personal coaching, and client assessments using a standard evaluation tool identified as prescribed by program guidelines. The Coordinator is also responsible to support Financial Services Manager with program development and outreach.

    The Financial Stability Coordinator is expected to be an active participant in the agency's mission, vision, and values and an active participant in promoting and fulfilling the ethical

    standards of the IDA program and HUD Housing. He/she shall work to ensure consistent, quality services to the agency's constituents, demonstrate enthusiasm, initiative, and flexibility in assignments and maintain positive working relationships and communication with all agency personnel.

    MAJOR DUTIES

    · Respond to all IDA inquiries – discuss program and eligibility – provide application packet, screen and interview potential program participants

    · Enter monthly bank statement information into participant files and software systems and produce quarterly match claims for review by Manger

    · Attends and participates in educational housing programs, maintains essential job skills and core competencies

    · Must be willing to attend 30 hours of continuous education towards recertification every 3 years

    · Must be willing to conduct workshops, seminars and one on one coaching activities, virtual or in person

    · Maintain client files and program records according to all contractual and grant requirements and provide accurate data entry in prescribed software systems, i.e. CAPTAIN

    · Assists with and facilitate on-site and off-site housing fairs and seminars

    · Provide program presentations to community groups; develop class curriculum as required

    · Participate in grant writing and other fund development activities

    · Provide financial counseling and analysis to borrowers

    · Help community members assess credit and financial readiness for mortgages

    · Explain the entire home purchasing process.

    · Collaborate with foreclosure prevention customers to prevent foreclosure or explore alternatives

    · Assist current homeowners with non-delinquency issues

    · Work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

    · Obtain identification and signed authorizations from borrowers.

    · Assist in preparing required documentation for servicer evaluation.

    · Responsible for monthly and quarterly reporting.

    · Participate in periodic meetings as requested

    · Maintain customer confidentiality and proper counseling file custody

    · Perform other duties assigned

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    · A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and/or a minimum of 2 to 4 years of equivalent experience and training in a related field. Certifications in foreclosure prevention, homeownership counseling, financial capability and rental housing counseling are a plus

    · HUD Housing Counseling Certification is a plus

    · Good organizational skills

    · Have reliable transportation for local travel
