    Overview:

    Responsible for revenue and settlement functions for Deriva Energy wind and solar portfolio. Job duties include analyzing information from internal and external sources, reading and interpreting contract terms, reconciling and validating settlement data, leading monthly accounting close, and communicating with various internal and external parties. This position requires interaction with various departments and individuals within the organization, strong technical knowledge and research capabilities to ensure compliance. Responsibilities also include leading projects, setting priorities and special projects as assigned. Perform complex analysis and research ad-hoc requests, develop reporting, and effectively present results for management review and decision making.

    Other responsibilities include quarterly reporting, assisting with the annual audit, account reconciliations, Subledger to GL mapping, subledger batch review and approval, oversee cash reconciliation and application, and analyzing/researching ad-hoc requests to support management decision making. Need to be knowledgeable of revenue accounting standards, practices and procedures to assist with the revenue recognition controls. Incumbents provide leadership (advising and providing direction) to others in financial areas of specialization, and may coordinate daily work activities or review the work of other teammates. Employee may also regularly lead projects. Employee works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. The ideal candidate will possess strong attributes for accuracy and will be highly detailed oriented.

    Responsibilities:
    • Review Power Purchase Agreements to understand billing and accounting treatments
    • Lead system setup of new trades
    • Interpret and cross reference contract terms and conditions to transaction details and identify errors or recommend changes when needed
    • Review and approve billing transactions with counterparties and independent system operators in accordance with contractual timelines
    • Serves as backup for staff during vacations and other absences
    • Coordinates with the team to ensure data is supplied to the appropriate people by deadlines for FAC, FERC EQR, FERC 552 and SOX testing
    • Review reconciliations of various balance sheet accounts, including AR, unbilled revenue, collateral accounts, and derivative valuations
    • Identify revenue and billing accruals, adjustments, or corrections that need to be made directly to the general ledger. Communicate impact to internal teams.
    • Revenue and accounts receivable reporting
    • Research and resolve billing discrepancies of higher complexity
    • Analyze financial information and recognize significant variances, trends and irregularities; understand causes/drivers, and summarize concisely to management
    • Perform complex queries in energy trading systems in support of inquiries from internal stakeholders and external customers.
    • Confirm and settle power, emissions and renewable energy credit purchase and sale transactions with commercial offtakers
    • Coordinate with internal teams to create new FERC Filing documents and to update and file quarterly FERC Reports.
    • Interact and support site operating personnel, corporate personnel, external auditors, vendors and consultants as required
    • Assist in the preparation for the annual budgets
    • Prepare ad hoc requests for internal and external parties
    • Special projects as assigned
    Qualifications - Basic:
    • Bachelor's degree with major in Accounting/Finance or related discipline
    • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience
    • Possesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and procedures
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, Power Point, and PowerBi
    • Proficient user of pivot tables and working knowledge on how to leverage Microsoft Power Query
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet stated deadlines
    Qualifications - Desired:
    • Minimum eight (8) years relevant work experience
    • Working knowledge of ASC 606 GAAP treatment
    • Working knowledge of CommoditesXL, PowerOptix, Aveva PI system, or similar systems
    • Experience with various Financial and Accounting software (i.e., PeopleSoft, IFS, Onestream, etc.)
    • Working knowledge of FERC filings
    • Advanced visualization app experience or database management
    • Experience with power settlements and invoicing with the various ISOs (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, SPP, CAISO)
    • Experience with complex power purchase agreements, VPPAs, and CFD.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and foster good relationships with teammates and business partners
    Working Conditions:
    • Hybrid - Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Deriva Energy facility.
