- Provides appropriate care to the injured or sick patient.
- Provides initial work-up of each patient including charting symptoms and complaints; checking vital signs; gathering necessary medical history; and beginning needed lab work.
- Administers and records injections as appropriate. Included are vaccines, TB skin test, allergy shots and other injections as ordered.
- Performs in-house lab as ordered and obtains appropriate samples for outside lab testing. Coordinates with the outside lab the procedure for testing, transportation of samples and obtaining reports.
- Coordinates setting up patient records ensuring that confidentiality guidelines are met.
- Coordinates appointments and referrals for Health Center patients as needed.
- Assists Nurse Practitioner as needed with physical exams.
- Ensures that CLIA and OSHA guidelines are met regarding operation of a medical clinic. (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments and Occupational Safety and Health Administration)
- Coordinates health related education to various groups on campus and also provides health education in one on one setting with patients.
- Supervises functions of Campus Health Center Secretary/Receptionist.
- Coordinates staff meetings with Health Center Personnel.
- Prepares and submits the monthly immunization report to Mississippi State Department of Health and obtains vaccine as needed.
- Maintains inventory of medical supplies and orders as necessary.
- Assumes responsibility for ensuring students meet immunization requirements for college admission by Mississippi State Department of Health. This is achieved by reviewing records for compliance, notifying and flagging student accounts if compliance not met. (Coordinated with Admissions and Registrar's offices)
- Directly supervises one employee in the Campus Health Center. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Assumes responsibility for identifying and communicating actual and potential problems to the dean.
- Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Job Description Summary
Coordinates and directs the daily activities of the Campus Health Center which includes working with the administrative assistant, Health Center Nurse Practitioners, doctors, dean, campus offices (including MSMS and student organizations), and patients.
