    Description

    Join the team at Iowa River Landing Gastrointestinal department as a 100% Patient Care Technician!

    Under direct supervision, this role involves assisting the nursing team in providing various types of patient care in both in-patient and out-patient settings. The position requires familiarity with a wide range of nursing procedures used to deliver patient care, including use of electronic word/data processing equipment and conventional office tools.

    Position Responsibilities:

    • Independently obtain and record vital signs like temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
    • Perform medical asepsis tasks such as phlebotomy, peripheral IV removal, and Foley catheter removal. Additionally, provide care for medically isolated patients.
    • Conduct simple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, like dressing changes, collecting specimens, and applying binders.
    • Execute special duties as directed, including phlebotomy, ECG lead placement, and brace/pin site cares.
    • Assist with patient admission, transfers, and discharges.
    • Provide patients with personal hygiene and comfort.
    • Turn, position, and ambulate patients as needed.
    • Transport patients, equipment, specimens, and supplies.
    • Assist with feeding, serving water and nourishments, and maintain records of patients' intake.
    • Help patients with bedpans and urinals and record output.
    • Participate in nursing care conferences and report relevant patient information to the nurse in charge.
    • Engage in social interactions to provide patient comfort measures.
    • Share responsibility for equipment and supplies maintenance, unit cleanliness, and proper use of disinfectants.
    • May prepare equipment and supplies for diagnostic or treatment procedures.
    • Ensure designated areas are cleaned according to guidelines using approved disinfectants.
    • Stock and supply patient rooms and nursing units.

    Minimum Eligibility Requirements:

    • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.

    Desired Qualifications:

    • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
    • Experience in Public Contact/Customer Service.
    • Prior experience working in an ambulatory clinic.
    • At least 1 year of preferred direct patient care experience.

    Schedule: This full-time position requires 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm at Iowa River Landing.
