- Prepares surgical operating room with necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies.
- Checks functionality of instruments and equipment. Assists in preparing, positioning, and draping patients.
- Hands instruments to surgeon during procedures. Keeps track of instruments and supplies used during surgery.
- Handles specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
- Demonstrates critical thinking, sound judgement, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Must be capable of taking prompt action.
- Minimum Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent or Military training.
- Mandatory Licensure/Certification: State registration as Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist. Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
- Minimal Experience: 6 months experience in Surgical Technology or completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
