- The foreman will adhere to all local, state and federal regulations.
- Will adhere to all rules and regulations set forth by the Poplar Bluff Board of Education.
- Will maintain records and reports as required by the supervisor.
- Will plan jobs out and assigns work orders to other maintenance personnel.
- The foreman will be in charge of the maintenance department in the absence of the Director.
- Responsible for all buildings, grounds, associated personnel and contracted services.
- Will assist all maintenance personnel when problems are encountered or when his/her knowledge or skills are deemed necessary.
- May help provide cost estimates regarding alterations, maintenance of buildings and equipment when requested by the supervisor.
- Must be knowledgeable in methods and maintenance of buildings in the Poplar Bluff School District.
- Must have the ability to supervise people.
- Must be able to plan and organize.
- Will perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Follow all E.P.A. guidelines for buildings and grounds.
- Be responsible for the safety of employees, buildings and grounds and building occupants.
- Be responsible for the development and management of a comprehensive short- and long-term list of maintenance and facilities improvements/needs for the district's buildings and properties.
- Must be available for after-hours duty as needed.
- Must be knowledgeable in the following:
- Carpentry
- Plumbing
- HVAC
- Electrical
- Construction
- General maintenance and upkeep of buildings and grounds
- Energy management and alarm systems
- Must be able to lift, carry and load equipment and supplies that will weigh as much as 30-60 pounds, 3-10 times per day.
- Must be able to climb and work from ladders, stepladders and stepstools.
- Must have dexterous use of both hands in order to operate power tools, hand tools and mechanical hand tools. Must also be able to drive a tractor and any other machinery that is necessary, such as, maintenance vehicles with a standard shift, a small dump truck and the ability to pull a trailer behind a vehicle.
- Must have previous experience in the safe operation and use of tools, such as, drills, saws, lawn mowers, weed-eaters, hedge trimmers, etc.
- Must be able to work indoors and outdoors (outdoors in the hot, wet and cold and below freezing weather).
- Strenuous work is a requirement of the position. The candidate must exhibit good vision, and hearing. They must be able to climb, have good balance, be able to stoop, kneel, reach and lift.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with teachers, students, administrators and other staff members.
- Must be able to read and understand written orders and instructions.
- Must be able to understand and follow-up on oral and telephone delivered orders and instructions.
- Must have a valid state driver's license.

THE FOREMAN PERFORMS DELEGATED ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES, CONDUCTS STUDIES AND PREPARED REPORTS AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS WITHIN THE POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOL DISTRICT.
