We are seeking a night shift, full-time Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in Amarillo, TX.

Responsibilities

• As a professional, you will assume responsibility and accountability for the performance of clinical laboratory testing that pertains to patient care and diagnosis.
• You will perform routine and special laboratory procedures, quality control, preventative maintenance, minor equipment repairs, inventory control, and statistical compilation.
• You will participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, laboratory education, new employee training, and proficiency testing when assigned.
• You will display technical expertise necessary to ensure timely and accurate results of laboratory procedures.
• You will ensure specimens are obtained and processed in accordance with laboratory guidelines.
• You will demonstrate proper communication skills to relate pertinent data or information about the patient or laboratory sample to appropriate care providers.
• You will support organizational priorities to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• You will exhibit problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and evaluate critical laboratory results.
• You will participate in the training/mentoring of new employees, students, or interns including lectures and bench techniques.
• You will prioritize and organize your workload and assist other coworkers to maintain productivity.
• You will demonstrate proper infection control practices, proper patient identification, perform proper prompt specimen transport.

Requirements

• You must hold a Baccalaureate Degree or Associates Degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Technician, or a chemical, physical, or biological science degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASCP or equivalent certification within a specific area, i.e., M(ASCP), H(ASCP), C(ASCP), qualifies.
• Previous clinical laboratory experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Scientist, or Medical Laboratory Scientist within a clinical laboratory.
