    Position Overview

    You will be an active member of the team evaluating, planning, directing, and administrating programs to help athletes reach their maximum level of performance.

    In partnership with team members, your primary responsibility is to keep the Greensboro Swarm players on the court and in peak game shape, while crafting and implementing a comprehensive injury prevention and rehabilitation program.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities


    • Provide injury evaluation, management and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for team athletes.
    • Assist with coordination with Swarm physicians/medical personnel on care of players as well as incoming player physicals as needed
    • Assist with injury reporting and documentation, maintenance of medical charts
    • Assist with workers comp claims for all injures requiring physician care and lingering more than 3 days
    • Manage inventory, ordering, and restocking clinical and clerical supplies
    • Maintenance and upkeep of the athletic training room and other sites as designated
    • Keeping up with continued education and maintaining good standing with N.A.T.A. Board of Certification
    • Organizing and managing team locker room, coaches' office, visiting team locker room and other facilities
    • Will work with the Greensboro Swarm during their season and then will be based in Charlotte and assist the Hornets staff during the Swarm off-season
    • Assist with facilitating league required drug testing and keeping the team and players in compliance with the league's policies and procedures
    • Supervise and delegate basketball operation related duties for team attendants (ball kids) during game nights
    • Other duties as specified by the coaching staff
    • Other duties as assigned by Manager

    Required Skills, Experience and Abilities
    To perform the job successfully, you should demonstrate the following competencies:


    • Masters' degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent training/experience
    • Appropriate education, training, and certification with the National Athletic Trainer's Association
    • Experience as a certified athletic trainer in competitive athletic environment, experience with professional basketball or other professional sport preferred
    • Additional related education and training such as strength and conditioning certifications (NSCA, NASM) or physical therapy certifications
    • Interpersonal skills - ability to maintain confidentiality, listens to others, and willing to try new things
    • Present self in a professional manner and have the ability interact with all levels of the organization and outside contacts
    • Ability to communicate both in writing and verbally in a clear and concise manner
    • Outstanding leadership and motivational skills
    • Ability to collaborate across a full spectrum of internal and external contacts
    • Adaptability and flexibility - adapts to changes in the work environment, manages challenging demands and is able to handle frequent changes
    • Dependability - consistently be at work on time, complete tasks in a timely manner
    • Organized, can prioritize work activities, uses time efficiently
    • You will possess the ability to make decisions
    • Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Able to travel with team year round
