    Alianza believes the most important entity within the organization is the team and as such requires strong leadership. A software Engineering Team Lead must be technically strong in order to understand the context and domain in which the team operates as well as a strong leader of the team, delivering results and building a happy, high-functioning team and culture. An Engineering Team Lead leads a software development team through its technology and projects: Their primary focus is on the technology advancements and progress on the work of the team while keeping track of the team's overall health, with a secondary skillset residing with personal development and continual improvement.

    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Strong technical leadership and mentoring for team members
    • Hold team accountable to project commitments (project schedule and deadlines)
    • Work with the team to understand the team backlog and allocation of work to the right team members
    • Work with product to facilitate grooming and planning (clarify requirements with Product, identify epic level requirements and define the description, acceptance criteria, estimated effort (t-shirt size), and roughly lay out the required stories
    • Work with Product to set and then own the delivery/project schedule and then project manage the work to that schedule
    • Plan and run communication between teams for cross-team dependency tasks
    • Stay current with current business requirements and emerging market and customer ideas
    • Performs development and testing work from the team backlog
    • Tests software in local and developer environments against story description and acceptance criteria
    • Running team meetings such as standup, sprint planning, refinement
    • Approves PTO and manages holidays and sickness absences in accordance with organizational rules
    • Hold 1-1s regularly with direct reports

    Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
    • 3+ years in a technical leadership role
    • Experience building and managing technical teams
    • Experience mentoring technical team members
    • Experience conducting performance reviews and coaching to a well-defined job description
    • Experience working with Product to understand and build out business requirements
    • Mastery of Angular or similar technology (such as React)
    • Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3
    • Excellent understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
    • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
    • Familiarity with new frameworks and prototyping tools
    • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as GIT
