    State Farm (Bloomington, IL) seeks a Lead Software Engineer to apply skills, tools, security processes, applications, and programing languages to complete complex assignments


    Specific duties include:

    utilize up-to-date coding, testing, security, DevOps, and software engineering practices to maintain and create new applications that support business requirements (25%); analyze, design, deploy, support, and secure technology to ensure the organization is efficiently managing its technology and data-related assets in accordance with market best-practices and external regulations (15%); improve usability and interaction between customer and product based on understanding of user experience (5%); apply a wide application of complex principles, theories, and concepts in computer science for software engineering solutions (10%); take responsibility of product from inception to sunset using DevOps and Agile mindset (5%); collect and analyze information to identify customer's technical needs, suggest solutions and develop implementation and integrations plans (5%); support data services and automation using data infrastructure knowledge (10%); develop data access related to storing, retrieving or acting on housed data (5%); develop for technical data platforms (10%); and develop and maintain services that retrieve output of product models that are called by other applications as part of a workflow (10%).

    Occasional travel required within the U.S. upon request. Option to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S.
    Qualifications

    Position requires a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or a closely related field of study, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered, or similar position in software development with expertise in data processing applications.

    Must have 5 years of experience working with the following:

    SQL, including data joins, partitioning, indexing, performance tuning, and query optimization; Python; ETL tooling using structured and unstructured data including Informatica and Ab initio; interacting with and maintaining relational databases, such as Oracle, SQL server, Teradata, and DB2; data processing and ingestion patterns across various complex systems, including Korn Shell scripting and SQL scripting; data analysis and research using SQL and ETL tools, such as Informatica, Ab initio, or similar tools to troubleshoot errors and data defects; and various software development methodologies including Waterfall and Agile with requirement gathering, designing and development of software solutions and testing.

    Occasional travel required within the U.S. upon request. Option to work remotely from anywhere in the U.S.
