Job DescriptionSalary:About the Role:
A Behavior Specialist will provide training and support for students with disabilities in a separate day school behavioral and emotional adjustment program. The Behavioral Specialist will also develop behavior management plans, train staff, and monitor the implementation of these plans. A Behavioral Specialist is responsible for observing and assessing patients' behavior and will develop and implement treatment plans to address behavioral issues while supporting patients throughout the treatment process. They will communicate with patients' teachers, caregivers, and families to implement the treatment plans.
Responsibilities:
· Conducting functional behavior assessments and develop behavior intervention plans for the student population
· Implementing school-wide behavior programs, including procedures for reinforcing specific replacement behaviors
· Working with classrooms teams to develop student-specific data collection systems
· Analyzing behavior data to make adjustments/modifications to students' programming
· Providing training to program staff, including administrators, teachers, and instructional assistants, on behavioral principles/ strategies
· Modeling intervention techniques and provide feedback to staff
· Participating as an IEP team member at meetings
· Working collaboratively with the school psychologist to address behavioral concern
· Working with staff to implement research-based instructional strategies to promote positive behavior
· Assisting with developing and implementing a positive reinforcement program for staff
· Maintaining non-violent crisis intervention training and train staff in these techniques
· Being a part of the school's crisis team and intervene when students are displaying extremely challenging or dangerous behavior
· Working with the Director of Special Education or her designee on other duties as assigned as they relate to this contract
Candidate Requirements:
· M.S in Education, psychology or a related field
· Minimum two (2) years' experience in providing behavior supports and monitoring to students with challenging behaviors
· Experience in a school setting
· Experience with a diverse population of students who have special needs
· Current Board-Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) certification, is preferred
