As a Senior Transportation Planning/Traffic Specialist, you'll work with planners, engineers, data scientists, and operations experts to deliver innovative, multimodal solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
Conduct transportation planning, traffic operations, and forecasting studies.
Develop and evaluate alternatives to address project needs.
Lead or support public engagement activities.
Prepare and present clear, high quality technical reports.
Apply a multimodal perspective across all projects, considering all users and travel modes.
The Successful Candidate Will Have The Following Experience
Experience in leading or managing transportation studies for VDOT or Virginia localities
Strong understanding of transportation planning and traffic engineering principles.
Ability to develop innovative planning and mobility solutions.
Skill in organizing, analyzing, and visualizing transportation data.
Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Commitment to continuous learning and building client and team trust.

Here's what you'll need
Bachelors in planning or civil engineering.
PE license or AICP certification
Substantial experience in long range planning, forecasting, transportation studies, and safety/traffic analysis for VDOT or Virginia localities including supporting on-call tasks
Working knowledge of federal and state transportation planning regulations
Proficiency with tools such as HCM/HCS, VISSIM, Synchro, SIDRA, and ArcGIS.
Ability to communicate effectively with technical staff, elected officials, and the public.
Local to our Virginia Offices including Reston, Richmond or Virginia Beach

The base salary range for this position is $115,000.00 to $150, Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
