    St. Louis, MOBrooksource is hiring a Sr. Database Administrator to join our Fortune 70 telecommunications client in the St. Louis, MO area. As a Sr. DBA, you will be joining the Data Management group of their IT Department. The Sr. DBA is focused on installation and support of database management systems and adhering to best practices within the department. This person should be a self-motivated individual with good communication skills and able to work well in a collaborative environment.
    Responsibilities
    Support NoSQL databases from development to mission-critical production systems.
    • Help determine, enforce and document database policies, procedures and standards.
    • Creates/maintains backup and recovery strategies on Database Management Systems
    • Monitor backups and maintenance jobs.
    • Identify and tune badly performing queries.
    • Provide assistance with ad-hoc query development and data analysis.
    • Use high-speed transaction recovery techniques and backup data.
    • Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses.
    • Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users.
    • Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity.
    • Monitor database performance, implement changes, and apply new patches and versions when required.
    • Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.Qualifications 3-5 years experience as a Database Administrator or similar role supporting NoSQL databases (MongoDB & REDIS)
    • Good knowledge of Instance, database and query tuning to improve the performance of the database/application
    • Experience with query/programming languages such as PL/SQL, Access SQL, Python
    • Oracle database experience preferred
    • Strong foundational on Infrastructure/Networking as it relates to understanding protocols used to connect the network to their databases.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and written/oral communication skills to work effectively with business partners, peer IT resources, and all levels of management
    • Ability to reason logically analyze and evaluate performance data and information, and draw appropriate conclusions
    • Eager and excited to learn niche database administration skills
    • Bachelors or Associates Degree preferably in Computer Science, MIS, or any related field
