    About the Role:

    Job Summary

    Responsible as a member of the hospice team for promotional and outreach efforts. Works with the leadership team and key clinical staff to develop and implement strategies to increase admissions and expand presence in key referring segments, e.g. physicians, discharge planners, managed care providers, facility staff, community service providers, etc. Demonstrates ability to identify appropriateness of potential patients in all settings for hospice care. Also, conducts presentations for providers and in the community and offer CEUs on desired topics to build goodwill and name recognition.

    Minimum Job Qualifications
    • Licensure or other certifications: Academic degree and/or professional clinical license from an accredited university or college.
    • Educational Requirements:
    • Minimum Experience: Minimum of two (2) years sales/public relations/provider relations experience, and two years healthcare experience.

    • Preferred Educational Requirements: Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience.

    • Must read, write and speak fluent English. Bilingual (Spanish speaking) a plus.

    Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
    • Exhibits the ability to manage a designated service area, handles all assignments and effectively uses resources and monitors own productivity.
    • Responsible for timely productivity reports of activity, tracking and trending volumes and develop action plans to rectify issues and show present and future ROI.
    • Demonstrates the ability to work independently in the field and drive new business while maintaining current relationships and providing superior customer service.
    • Collaborates with the leadership team, the Access Center Coordinator and clinical staff to develop a detailed territory analysis and implement a strategic business plan to increase admissions, average length of stay and grow within a given service area.
    • Maintains a public relations strategy within a given service area developing positive relationships with physicians, discharge planners, facility and hospital staff, agencies and other providers to facilitate referrals.
    • Helps establish systems, generate and disseminate reports measuring the impact of strategic initiatives on referrals/admissions for priority service lines.
    • Is actively involved in multiple community organizations as well as local networking groups within service area.
    • Exhibits the ability to recognize problems, identify solutions and develop a plan to ensure that these issues can effectively be resolved and avoided in the future.
    • Identifies and facilitates the development of community training needs of providers and discusses, conducts, and arranges for training and CEUs needed as requested.
    • Maintains knowledge of contracting with long term care facilities, assisted living facilities and personal care homes, coordinating the review and signatures of new contracts and addendums.
    • Identifies public relations tools that are effective in attracting new, and maintaining current, hospice business and updates as needed the marketing materials.
    • Work with hospital contracting department to obtain needed managed care contracts; building relationships as needed to maximize the ability to admit patients with private insurance.
    • Works with the organizations public relations team to optimize branding and information on hospice website and develops and customizes provider contact databases.
    • Participates in meetings, including Public Relations, All Staff, QAPI, Strategic Planning and others as assigned. Collaborates with Regional Network Developing Team on a regular basis to share information about customer base and territories.
    • Maintains and increases knowledge of hospice and palliative care services, customers, and referral services.
    • Manages and updates staff and management on industry trends, customer needs, competitor data, legislative issues and national initiatives through internal discussion and research and review of industry publications.
    • Assists with and as scheduled with patient/family consults and admissions (if licensed as a nurse).
    • Participates as requested in patient care coordination meetings with facilities.
    • Has ability to be flexible in work hours as necessary.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
