    The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources strives to maintain healthy populations of fish andwildlife across the state. The employees of Kentucky Fish and Wildlife are passionate about the resource theymanage. The Wildlife Division of Kentucky Fish and Wildlife is currently seeking a candidate to work withinthe Green River Region.

    This position is essential due to the need of managing over 40 thousand acres within Peabody WMA along withoversight of three additional areas within four counties.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Safely and efficiently completes the habitat management activities such as strip mowing and disking,preparing food plots, and chemical application to meet habitat management goals.
  • Safely and efficiently uses the tools, parts, and consumables to perform maintenance and repairs onvehicles, tractors, equipment, buildings, roads, and area infrastructure when required.
  • Uses and understandsFleet Management policies for vehicle use, maintenance and repairs, and agency policies for purchases.Maintains maintenance logs on vehicles and equipment as necessary.
  • Facilitates managed hunts and public use of the area by interacting professionally with members of thepublic during managed hunts and during daily work activities.
  • Assists with the collection of biological data and wildlife survey/monitoring activities.
  • Maintains administrative records and reports including prompt submission of timesheets, activity logs,and receipts.
  • Maintains equipment inventories, and promptly responds to supervisor requests for information/products.
  • Preferred Skills and Abilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Familiarity of agricultural equipment operation and repair.
  • Willing to complete various trainings and certifications such as KY Pesticide applicator licensing, andKDFWR prescribed fire certifications.
  • Some computer skills will be required, general knowledge of computer programs such as, Microsoft Word,Excel, and Office.
  • Ability to Multi-task various job tasks.

  • Minimum Requirements EDUCATION: High school graduate.
    EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have one year of fishery, wildlife or habitat management/development experience.
    Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Additional related training will substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
    Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Experience in fisheries, wildlife or habitat management/development will substitute for the required education on a year for year basis.
    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s) or other credentials. Working Conditions Travel, extreme weather conditions, heavy equipment and wildlife may pose hazards. Probationary Period This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS
