    BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn is NYC's longest-running, free performance festival, and a beloved summer tradition featuring approximately 25 varied large-scale performances and attracting upwards of 200,000 people each summer to the Prospect Park Bandshell.

    About the Lighting Director BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn Role:

    BRIC seeks a Lighting Director who will work as part of a production team committed to high-level production values and safety and who will contribute to a positive artist, audience, and staff experience. The Lighting Director is responsible for design decisions, leading the installation of the lighting plot, leading changeover, and maintaining the lighting equipment.

    What You'll Do in the Role:


    The Lighting Director will be responsible for the following in addition to any other project as assigned by their manager, the Production Supervisor

    Seasonal

    • Design, Install, Maintain, & Strike the seasonal lighting rental package
    • Planning and implementing of cabling, data, and power distribution
    • Create a power plan for stage lighting, touring groups, perimeter lighting, facilities stations, and auxiliary spaces
    • Work closely with Production Director and Technical Director to achieve specific lighting plot and technical requirements
    • Manage and supervise lighting crew
    • Update and modify all drawings and specifications (VECTORWORKS DRAWING)
    • Update and modify all drawings and specifications (CAD)
    • Troubleshoot dimmers, moving lights, and conventional lighting system
    • Inventory, repair, and maintain all lighting fixtures, power distribution, cabling, data, networking, and lighting console.
    • Install/maintain/strike power distribution for site
    • Program and Run lighting for most events using a GrandMA3

    Weekly

    • Advance upcoming events for the department
    • Order supplies/equipment
    • Maintain schedules and paperwork
    • Schedule staff and assignments

    Daily

    • Check and ring out lighting system
    • Focus show lighting
    • Program and operate lighting console
    • Provide support for special events/sponsorship
    • Interface with visiting lighting staff
    • Check all safety/weather issues

    Physical Demands:

    • Working in the outdoors including heat, humidity and inclement weather
    • Climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs or more.

    • Experience & Qualifications:
      • At least 5-years of experience as a theater/concert Lighting Director.
      • Degree in technical theater and/or rigging certifications preferred.
      • Must have over 3 years professional experience in with the grandMA Console
      • Have electrical experience, ability to plot and plan for all power and lighting on stage and site
    • Communication & Relationship Building: A highly skilled communicator who is a team player and can support the achievement of team goals.
    • Commitment to Equity & Inclusion: Brings experience operationalizing equity within the Performing Arts and or Hospitality function.

    Other Things to Know:

    • Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $55.00.
    • Status and location: This is a seasonal role based at the Lena Horne fBandshell at Prospect Park.
    • Performance and General schedule:
      • May 1 - June 6 (Load In: Mon-Fri. 8 hours/ day)
      • June 7 - August 24 (Show days + prep days, approx hours/day, exact dates TBD)
      • August 25 - September 5 (Load Out: 8 -10 consecutive 8 hour days, exact dates TBD)
