- Conduct thorough inspections of residential and commercial buildings under construction to ensure compliance with building codes, laws, and ordinances.
- Review and analyze building plans and specifications to identify potential code violations and discrepancies.
- Issue building permits and ensure that contractors adhere to approved plans and specifications.
- Document inspection findings, maintain accurate records, and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to contractors, builders, and homeowners regarding building codes and regulations.
- Investigate complaints related to building code violations and take appropriate enforcement actions.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest changes to building codes, laws, and ordinances.
- High school diploma or equivalent with moderate experience in construction.
- Possession of Level I Building, Electrical, Mechanical, and Plumbing certifications.
- Thorough understanding of building codes, laws, and ordinances applicable to residential and commercial construction.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with contractors, builders, homeowners, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Proficient in the use of relevant software and technology, including building inspection software and computer-aided design (CAD) programs.
