    EMPLOYMENT TERMS: Full-time, 12-month

    PRIMARY DUTY: This highly collaborative position is responsible for serving as an academic advisor for students as well as facilitating intensive and individualized data-based interventions and instructing university required courses which provide support and accountability for students. The Academic Advisor and Success Coach provides support to students, including assistance with preregistration, exploration of various majors, and provide connections to various resources/services on campus to aid student success and retention.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    1. Serve as an academic advisor and success coach for first and second year college students. Aid with course selection and student registration, connections to campus resources, introduction to profession-based experiences to support the select major.
    2. Provide personalized advisement including use of a student's interests, strengths, and skills to foster connections.
    3. Demonstrate knowledge of various academic majors/disciplines and understanding of university policies.
    4. Utilize various technology platforms (Northwest Success 360, Mongoose, Northwest Online, CatPaws, DegreeWorks, and Banner) daily to view advisee information, record advisee interactions, and schedule appointments.
    5. Collaborate and coordinate with lead Academic Advisor and Success Coach and Associate Academic Success & Retention leadership to foster a supportive and informed cross-functional approach to advisement and student success.
    6. Effectively communicate with Department Chair/School Director, faculty members, and students in specified discipline.
    7. Initiate, develop, and maintain strong relationships with students and those participating in academic recovery or academic success coaching.
    8. Deliver curriculum for Northwest's Strategies for Academic Success course and Academic Success Coaching course.
    9. Collaborate with Chair/Director and faculty within assigned departments/schools to assist with prospective student visits, major visit days and freshmen onboarding during SOAR, Advantage and throughout the two years of enrollment.
    10. Coordinate with members of the Academic Advising and Success Coaching team and Academic Success & Retention leadership to provide intensive, individualized assistance to students on academic probation, including monitoring academic performance.
    11. Meet weekly on an individual basis with a caseload of students on academic probation or students electing to participate in the academic success coaching program, providing education regarding time management and organizational skills, study skills, and assistance with task analysis and to develop an individualized learning path.
    12. Serve as a trusted resource to students to ensure they understand the path to continued academic success or steps and process to return to academic good standing.
    13. Attend and participate in Academic Success & Retention unit meetings and collaborate with team members to meet unit goals.
    14. Perform administrative tasks and other duties as assigned, including introduction of institutional initiatives related to student academic success and retention.
    REQUIREMENTS:
    Education: Bachelor's degree in a related field and completion of Master's degree within one year of hire date.
    Experience: 1-3 years related experience working with undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds or working in student services.
    Skills: Excellent skills in communication (written, oral, and interpersonal with an emphasis in relating to student needs), collaboration, learning strategies, planning and time management, problem analysis and resolution.

    WORKING CONDITIONS: This position will work in an office environment with a work schedule determined based on service needs, which will likely include early morning, night, and/or weekend hours.
