    Responsibilities

    • Perform front desk duties, including patient registration, scheduling, financial interviews, data entry, answering phones, and other related tasks.
    • Assist dentists during examinations by organizing, arranging, and passing dental instruments, operating mouth suction devices, and setting up dental trays for operative or surgical procedures.
    • Provide direct patient care by obtaining medical information, taking diagnostic x-rays, cleaning teeth, and applying fluoride treatment.
    • Sterilize dental instruments and disinfect work area and equipment.
    • Perform clerical support duties, including scheduling appointments and maintaining inventories and appropriate records and files.

    Requirements

    • Completion of a one-year training program at an accredited school of Dental Assistants.
    • Experience working with electronic dental records is preferred.

    Selection Process

    A selection committee will evaluate the qualifications of each applicant based on education, experience, answers to supplemental questions, employment references, and other relevant information.

    The interview will comprise 100% of the applicant's earned grade, and candidates must earn a qualifying grade of 70 or more to be eligible for appointment.

    All applicants conditionally offered a merit position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.

    The County will cover the cost of screening.

    Candidates have 3 days to complete the required Conviction Questionnaire after initial interviews are conducted.

    The top five ranking candidates will be certified to the Department Director/Appointing Authority for final decision.

    Covid-19 Vaccination Policy

    Newly hired employees must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment.

    Acceptable forms of proof include CDC COVID-19 vaccination cards, documentation from a healthcare provider, electronic health record, or state immunization information system record.

    Full vaccination means having received a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) approved vaccine or vaccine series, consisting of two doses of either of the two-dose vaccines or one dose of the single-dose vaccine.
