    Description
    The Database Administrator ensures standards, guidelines and procedures related to corporate database systems are in place and documented. The individual facilitates the efficient and effective storage and retrieval of corporate data residing in the database systems.

    The Database Administrator is responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of the data residing in the corporate database systems and maintaining the security and integrity of the total database environment, which includes data dictionary facilities, systems design for database application and application code developed for database applications.

    The individual also provides production support and technical guidance on database related issues and keeps up-to-date on database management technology.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    Assumes primary responsibility for and manages enterprise-wide DBMS systems.
    Creates and maintains database documentation, including data standards, procedures, and definitions for the data dictionary ('metadata').
    Controls access permissions and privileges, according to documented access and information security procedures.

    Ensures that storage, archiving, backup and recovery procedures are functioning correctly and will partner with technical services team for any necessary remediation.

    Reviews database usage, plans for future capacity and presents recommendations for future system planning.
    Encourages data resource sharing and reduction of redundant data by assisting in the development and maintenance of corporate databases.
    Keeps up-to-date on database management technology by evaluating, recommending and implementing database related procedures, design methodology, and software.

    Partners with application development teams to ensure successful upgrades of current database applications by coordinating the manipulation of database changes and establishment of linkages to other systems.

    Provides production support and gives technical guidance to Information Technology team members on database related issues.
    Facilitates the use of the corporate databases by organizing and administering the data dictionary.

    Ensures users of the corporate database efficiently store and retrieve data by coordinating standards, guidelines and procedures, and by continually evaluating data base system performance.

    Provides backup support in development of data access objects (stored procedures, universes, SQL statements) for reporting.
    Supports Information Technology team and/or other departments on an as needed basis.
    Willingly takes on additional responsibilities as requested in order to accomplish department and Company objectives.

    Actively participates and contributes to the goals and objectives of the Company by working collaboratively and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.


    Skills and Abilities:
    SQL Server 2016 and higher experience.
    Experience with Enterprise database architecture solutions using SQL (Availability Groups, Clustering, etc.)
    Ability to work creatively and analytically in response to problems.
    Ability to support and troubleshoot issues, working with outside vendor support as needed.
    Knowledge of Data Warehouse lifecycle including data analysis, data modeling & design using dimensional modeling approach.
    Ability to implement replication, cross-replication, log shipping, and other data synchronization mechanisms.
    Ability to implement data encryption.
    Ability to create self-service jobs and scripts to automate common tasks.
    Understanding of data modeling and development.
    Experience with SQL performance tuning from provisioning to production.
    VMWare experience preferred.
    Windows Server 2019+ experience preferred.
    Experience with Rubrik backup solutions preferred.

    Training or Work Experience:
    If High School Diploma, minimum 8 years database or data processing experience required.
    If Associates' degree, minimum 6 years database or data processing experience required.
    If Bachelors' degree, minimum 4 years of database installation, configuration, and maintenance experience required.

    Education:
    Associate's Degree or Bachelors in Computer Science or Management Information Systems preferred
    High School or equivalent required

    Working Conditions:

    Business Travel:
    Infrequent travel (less than 5% of the time).
    Provide twenty-four hour support for computer operation of production systems, as needed.
