    Director of Daycare

    Garrison Forest School seeks a Director of Daycare to begin June 1, 2024. The Director has the responsibility of the daily operations of the Daycare as well as planning, implementing, and maintaining a credentialed daycare program for the Garrison Forest Community. The Director of Daycare reports directly to the Head of Early Childhood Education.



    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Oversee the academic, social, and emotional life of the Daycare students including oversight of curriculum, student records and scheduling
    • Work to ensure a smooth and warm onboarding experience for families
    • Supervise, direct and support the Daycare faculty and staff
    • Work closely with the Head of Early Childhood Education for screening and hiring potential Daycare faculty and staff
    • Schedule and carry out professional development of Daycare faculty and staff through meetings, workshops etc.
    • Maintain a warm, nurturing environment for all students, families, faculty and staff involved with the Daycare
    • Convey to parents and faculty the philosophy and goals of the Daycare as outlined in the Daycare Parent Handbook
    • Engage and communicate with Daycare families on a regular basis
    • Assist in developing and supervising Daycare budgets and the care and upkeep of the Daycare building, grounds, and equipment
    • Oversee daily operations of the Daycare program, including budget, enrollment, maintaining licensure, curriculum, and teacher observations
    • Ensure that the Daycare program meets all requirements necessary to maintain licensing from the State of Maryland
    • Assist with staffing and facility needs including maintaining teacher and substitute schedules and filling in when needed
    • Oversee all new employees with center orientation
    • Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS:
      • Bachelor's Degree required, Master's preferred
      • Must be able to meet the State of Maryland, OCC and other licensing regulatory agencies' requirements
      • Minimum of five years experience working in an Early Childhood setting
      • Experience supervising others and building and maintaining a team of professionals
      • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
      • Ability to work collaboratively with other leaders throughout the school community
      • Deep understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and milestones for infants and toddlers
      • Flexible, warm, caring, nurturing personality with an enthusiasm for working with infants, toddlers and their families
      • Physically able to work with young children (bending, stooping, walking, lifting etc.)
