    Description

    Milwaukee Rep is seeking an experienced, skilled, and knowledgeable Chief Engineer to be responsible for the building and facilities operations of a large regional theater operating within a historic building, including monitoring and maintaining building systems, overseeing a department of staff engineers, managing subcontracting, and ensuring safety and compliance regulations are up to standard. The Chief Engineer regularly uses advanced skills to perform complex preventive maintenance and corrective repair of buildings, equipment and grounds and utilizes several trade skills such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating and cooling.

    This is a full-time, non-exempt position with an exceptional benefits package that includes continuing education opportunities relevant to the position. Work rules are governed by the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between Milwaukee Rep and Local No 420 International Union of Operating Engineers. Qualified candidates must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including some evening and weekend hours on occasion.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities Include:

    • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of building systems including HVAC, building automation systems, plumbing, electrical, lighting, fire alarm, sprinkler, electronic security, indoor air quality/air filtration systems, and elevator operations to ensure operation of equipment is within optimal capacity and efficiency.
    • Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, and Company directives related to building operations and work safety.
    • Manage computerized systems operations according to prescribed building requirements.
    • Supervises contractors and maintenance personnel performing electrical and mechanical maintenance.
    • Performs assigned repairs, emergency and preventive maintenance.
    • Reviews assigned work orders. Estimates time and materials needed to complete repair. Orders necessary materials and supplies to complete all tasks.
    • Responds quickly to emergency situations, summoning additional assistance as needed.
    • Coordinate work and assigned tasks to engineering department staff as appropriate
    Requirements
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and demonstrated experience that establishes the skills and abilities required to perform the major duties and responsibilities of the position, including increasing responsibilities within Facilities Management and working in large sized facilities. Preference will be placed on candidates with experience in multiple buildings, historic buildings, or venues of public assembly.
    • Demonstrated experience providing routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed, including installing equipment, machines, wiring, and controlling operations of equipment
    • The ability to troubleshoot to determine a cause and conduct testing and inspections is mandatory
    • Ideal candidates will be self-motivated and able to work with minimal to no supervision.
    • Strong time management skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities at once is an asset to anyone in this position.
    • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office
    • Ability to work across a vast diversity of ages, skill, and educational/cultural backgrounds.
    • Ability to pass a background check in accordance with state and/or Federal laws
    Physical Requirements:
    • Consistently works in high-temperature environments and frequently exposed to loud sounds in close proximity
    • Frequently moves up to 50 lbs. unassisted
    • Ability to work comfortably on elevated surfaces (roof) and climb a ladder up to 30 feet is required for this position
    • Must be able to maintain a standing position up to 10 hours per day and occasionally work in a prone or kneeling position
    • Able to regularly ascend/descend stairs

    Salary Description

    $35.33/hour
