    Position Description: Assemble, install, alter, and repair pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids or gases, and heating and cooling equipment and mechanical control systems.

    Essential Duties & Key Responsibilities:

  • Review construction documents to fully comprehend scopes of work per plans and specifications to complete job assignment.
  • Collaborate with Plumbing Foreman to create schedules and determine sequencing of work. Develop and implement recovery strategies to maintain project schedule, as required.
  • Install sanitary and water piping systems, extending piping as needed to connect fixtures and plumbing.
  • Cut, thread, or hammer pipes to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, or pipe benders.
  • Perform light construction to modify barriers to pipe installation (, carpentry, painting, plastering, flooring, ceilings).
  • Locate and mark position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, or fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers or levels.
  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing, or fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing, or welding equipment.
  • Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify cause of errors, other problems, or defects and resolve and/or escalate to Plumbing Foreman.
  • Identify drawing discrepancies that could affect overall building layout and inform project team.
  • Collaborate with Plumbing Foreman for scheduling and expediting delivery of materials and equipment.
  • Inventory supplies and give supply orders to Foreman for re-stocking.
  • Collaborate with EH&S and Quality Control teams for safety and quality programs.
  • Display high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations.
  • Fully understand work instructions, project signage, and safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers and prepare and inspect tools prior use to ensure safe and working condition.
  • Participate in daily Pre-Task Plans, follow safety expectations for operation of equipment and tools, select appropriate equipment for performing work, adhere to safety protocols to perform work, and wear appropriate PPE (Personal Protection Equipment).
  • May operate equipment including forklifts, backhoe, skid steer, excavator, compactors, and construction hoist.
  • Ensure security of equipment and work area while conducting operations.
  • Identify, communicate, and escalate problems and issues to Foreman or Supervisor for immediate resolution.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of plumbing experience required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Familiar with various piping materials (, PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, copper)
  • Proficient knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved related to plumbing
  • Knowledge of plumbing building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices
  • Ability to understand and interpret construction drawings, specifications, scopes of work, and project schedule to determine dimensions and materials to execute work activities
  • Proficient use of related hand and power tools used in the plumbing trade and light construction skills to complete work assignments
  • Knowledge of and able to apply arithmetic and basic geometry to work tasks
  • Ability to measure, read, and convey lengths with ruler or tape with high degree of accuracy
  • High attention to detail and know proper sequencing of workflow
  • Able to think critically and use good judgment to solve problems
  • Ability to take direction, work independently with minimal supervision, and in team environment
  • Ability to apply active listening skills, ask clarifying questions, and complete assignments as directed
  • Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills and engage with all levels of teams, clients, business partners, and management
  • Reliable transportation required
  • Ability to travel using various modes (, automobile, train, air) and accommodate night and weekend work as needed
  • Valid state Driver's License as applicable to operate equipment and/or travel as needed using personal or company vehicles

Frequently: Crawling. Occasionally: Sitting, lifting/lowering/carrying weights 25-50 lbs. and over 50 lbs., reaching above shoulder height, climbing, and confined space hazards, and working on heights.
