POSITION DUTIES
The main purpose of this position is to provide\r
direct, comprehensive health care to children in schools and other community\r
settings. These health services include, but are not limited to: well child\r
annual exams, school entry physicals, sports physicals, immunizations,\r
diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic conditions, anticipatory guidance\r
and health education, referrals to other health professionals, medical\r
providers, and resources, case management and coordination of health care. This\r
position is considered essential for emergencies.\r

Personnel: This position may be declared essential on a case- by-case basis by the Health Officer or designee for emergency response to a specific mass casualty, pandemic, disaster event, or other designated public health emergency.\r

Establishes medical diagnosis, prescribes medications, and develops treatment plans based on evidence-based guidelines for common short-term or chronic stable health problems for a pediatric and adolescent population\r
Prescribes medications, orders and plans treatments according to\r
current guidelines from nationally-recognized professional organizations (CDC,\r
AAP, etc.)�\r
Assesses and manages minor somatic and behavioral health problems\r
Orders,\r
performs, and interprets laboratory tests and develops\r
appropriate\r
treatment plans�\r
Provides guidance and instruction in health maintenance and disease prevention in conjunction with other health professionals, including patients' other medical providers\r
Appropriately refers patients to other health care providers\r

May provide advice, training and guidance to health suite and school personnel\r

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Determined\r
by the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses under the certification\r

Experience: One year of experience as a Nurse\r
Practitioner or as a Nurse-Midwife.\r

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
1. Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner or as a Nurse Midwife from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215.�A copy of your license or license number should be uploaded on your application.\r
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. \r
