Position:
Material Planning Engineer – Golf Cart Assembly
Job Overview:
As the Materials Planning Engineer at our Golf Cart Assembly Plant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials and components required for the production of our world-class golf carts.
You will be responsible for overseeing the planning, procurement, and inventory management processes to optimize efficiency, minimize costs, and maintain product quality.
Reports to Workshop Manager - Golf Cart Assembly.Key Responsibilities:
Materials Planning:
Develop and execute materials planning strategies to meet production schedules and customer demands.
Collaborate with production managers to understand production requirements and ensure timely material availability.
Inventory Management:
Monitor and maintain inventory levels, ensuring minimal excess or shortage of materials.
Implement inventory control measures to minimize waste and improve overall efficiency.
Supplier Management:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating terms and agreements to secure the best pricing and quality.
Evaluate supplier performance and take corrective actions as necessary.
Procurement:
Create and manage purchase orders to acquire materials and components in a cost-effective and timely manner.
Evaluate alternative suppliers and sourcing options to optimize costs and lead times.
Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor a team of materials planners and coordinators, providing guidance and support to ensure the team's success.
Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices to enhance materials planning and procurement processes.
Monitor key performance indicators and take actions to improve departmental performance.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure that materials and components meet quality standards and specifications.
Collaborate with quality control teams to resolve any quality-related issues.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Five (5) years of experience in materials planning, procurement, or supply chain management, with a proven track record of success in a manufacturing environment.
Strong leadership and team management skills.Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
Proficiency in materials planning software and ERP systems.
Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
Bilingual English/Chinese preferred.
