Position Summary

The 180 Program Support Specialist coordinates and provisions clinical and case management services to program participants.

This position acts as a liaison between program participants and their families, contract agencies, service providers, juvenile justice system representatives, school staff, and community organizations.

This position will coordinate Aftercare services for program participants.

Qualifications


Manages and interacts with juveniles, individually or in groups, to provide a positive rehabilitative influence; demonstrates leadership by being a positive role model for youth and treating all persons with dignity and respect.

Complies with Wisconsin State Statutes, Administrative Codes, regulations, guidelines, and standards to develop and modify appropriate policies, procedures, and programs; facilitate quality improvement activities regarding the 180 programs; participates in developing and delivering group programs and services for participating youth and their families.

Facilitates a cooperative working environment with clients, schools, placing counties, and other agencies and bureaus; achieves involvement and active participation of the juvenile, family, schools, juvenile court, health care providers, and other community resources in resolving problems and returning the client to the community.

Demonstrates effective case management services to juveniles in the 180 Program; coordinates and schedules program activities, including home, school, employment, and recreation site visits; organizes and provides all supervision and transportation to 180 Program and aftercare participants.

Responds to and evaluates client emergencies and requests 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; makes critical and sound judgments and decisions on how to react; responds promptly and effectively in emergency situations; uses appropriate techniques to calm disruptive juvenile residents.

Monitors the maintenance of reporting and recording systems to ensure that accurate records are kept in accordance with legally mandated record management practices and procedures; maintains a complete record for all assigned cases; completes required written assessments, reports, and other related paperwork as necessary; maintains, prepares, and submits records, reports, data collection, performance evaluation and quality assurance data.

Develops professional knowledge and skills by attending training events, conferences, and workshops.

Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with internal and external partners; speaks to the community and other organizations to provide public education; acts as an advocate for and interpreter of the 180 Program; attends and participates in mandatory staff meetings, supervision times, and other regularly scheduled meetings.

Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

Training And Professional Experience Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.

Two years of work experience providing care, supervision, or custody of children within juvenile justice, group home, shelter care or foster care environment.

Eighteen (18) years of age or older upon appointment.

Appointment will be conditional upon successful completion of a credit check; caregiver check and criminal background check resulting in no felony convictions in any jurisdiction unless the judgment or conviction has been reversed or a complete pardon has been granted.

Position will be subject to pre-hire, random, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing during the course of employment.
Position will require a pre-employment physical and audiogram.
Position will require fingerprinting and searching local, state, and national fingerprint records.
Must have valid driver's license, an acceptable driving record, and access to private transportation for work-related duties.
Must possess and maintain personal automobile insurance in the amount of $100,000/$300,000.

Completed the Basic Juvenile Detention Officer Training or ability to complete training within twelve (12) months of hire as a condition of continued employment.

As a condition of continued employment, it will be required to complete 24 hours of annual recertification training.

Desired Training And Professional Experience Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, or a related field.
Experience in program development, planning, and evaluation, personnel supervision and evaluation, case management.

Experience applying statutes and regulations applicable to social services delivery, adolescent mental health theory and practice, evidence-based trauma informed care.

Paid Time Off (PTO): Accrual is based on years of service with the County, starting at 6.4 hours accruing each pay period (20.8 days per year), with the maximum accrual rate of 35.75 days per year.

*Manager PTO accrual available upon request*Holidays: Eleven paid holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a Spring Holiday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve Day.

Retirement:
The County provides a retirement account in Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS). Employees pay one-half of the actuarially required contributions.
