    Job Description Summary

    * IMPORTANT NOTE: This position is open to applicants who are CURRENTLY ENROLLED AT ULV AND HAVE AN ACTIVE FEDERAL WORK STUDY award *

    OCCE - The purpose of the Food Pantry Assistant is to assist with transporting food, putting away or packing food, distributing food, provide office work support and maintenance to name a few.

    Two openings are available for this position. This position has a starting pay of $19.00 per hour.

    Specific Duties

    Food Maintenance
    • Organize Food Room
    • Prepares for Distribution
    • Work with LA Regional Food Bank (TEFAP Ordering Food & Inventory Reporting)
    Warehouse Maintenance
    • Keeps Refrigeration units clean
    • Maintain all other food storage area and make sure they are clean and safe
    • Keeps warehouse and office area clean
    • Makes sure all trash is in the correct outside trash reciprocals
    Office Clerical Work
    • Make copies and packets
    • Answer phones
    • Create flyers
    Minimum Qualifications
    • Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
    • Personal Computer experience with proficiency in MS Office (Word & Excel)
    • A positive and can-do attitude and willingness to work with volunteers
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to be a team player
    • Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
    Benefits Summary

    Employees are eligible for the following benefits:

    One hour of Paid Sick Leave for every 30 hours worked, with a maximum accrual of 24 hours of Paid Sick Leave per year and capped at 48 hours.

    University of La Verne Defined Contribution Retirement Plan - can contribute employee voluntary contributions, excluding wages derived from federal work study funds.

    In accordance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), employees who work an average of 30 or more hours per week, will be eligible for medical coverage through the University of La Verne.

    Covered under the University of La Verne Workers Compensation Insurance.
