Mount Mitchell Café & Eatery is hiring BOH Team Members with the potential to grow with us as we forge into the future. We are at Mount Mitchell State Park and are dedicated to offering elevated hospitality and elevated dining experiences. We are a hybrid of counter service with an emphasis on an elevated guest experience and maintaining a fun environment for all. Seasonal Work.

Mitchell Cafe is Open April - October.

Please note: Our location requires travel from Ox Creek Road via the Blue Ridge Parkway to Mount Mitchell State Park. This commute is approximately one hour each way (about two hours round trip). Reliable transportation is required. For team members who need assistance, we may offer transportation with a designated meet-up location in Weaverville.

The Main Attraction:

As a dishwasher, you will be responsible for cleaning all prep equipment, silverware, glassware, and dishes according to sanitation requirements. You'll be responsible for keeping the dish pit organized and assisting the kitchen in keeping the line and prep areas organized and clean. Your pace is critical to turning tables, so a strong work ethic is key to success.

The Role Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a clean kitchen, properly washes and sorts soiled dishes, and preps foods as needed. Keeps dish area free of clutter and organized
  • Set up dish stations, including dish machines and sinks
  • Maintains clean/dry floors throughout the shift
  • Properly washes, stacks, and stores plateware, glassware, silverware, cookware, and storage containers
  • Changes water of machines and sinks every two hours, or more often as required by business levels, and properly uses chemical dilutions set by chemical provider
  • Assists in the timely storing of food deliveries
  • Maintains trash cans throughout shift and removes full trashcans and boxes at the end of each shift
  • Maintains the dry storage area and the organization of storage shelves.
  • Follows the posted daily dish cleaning duties
  • Assists in food prep and any other duties set forth or requested by the chef as needed

Qualified candidates for this position have:

  • High school diploma or GED- preferred
  • Hospitality-related kitchen experience preferred
  • Reliable transportation and child care
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment

Capability Requirements

The following capabilities are required to perform the essential functions of this position.

  • Sit, stand, and walk continuously
  • Occasionally stoop, bend, crouch, or climb, including the use of ladders
  • Frequently lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds, including lifting overhead
  • Continuous use of hands and wrists for grasping and fine manipulation
  • Communicate proficiently through speech, reading, and writing
  • Maintain effective audio-visual perception and judgment to observe and respond to the environment
  • Work in an indoor or outdoor environment that features hot and cold temperature variations and exposure to food and outdoor allergens
  • Operate and work safely with restaurant equipment including, but not limited to, knives, fryers, and food service equipment

Compensations: $14-$16 per Hour
