The qualified candidate will actively support cutting-edge R&D functions in collaboration with technical staff, focused on bringing technology solutions to gas and energy utility companies.

Work LocationThe position will be based in the Chicagoland area at the GTI Energy Headquarters.

We offer a hybrid/core work week, where employees are remote Mondays and Fridays, and required to be on-site Tuesday through Thursday.

Primary ResponsibilitiesThis position is within a group of engineers and scientists that bring technology solutions to gas and energy markets.

The candidate must be able to apply engineering practices to the development and deployment of electrical and electronic technology.

The candidate must be able to work within the structure of an overall project team while being able to work independently on sub-tasks.

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Participate in developing requirements from customer needs discussionsResearch and identify components, hardware, software that match design specificationsAssist in the construction and demonstration of technology proof of concept (PoC)Document work in written, graphical, and presentation formatsPerform other duties as assignedRequired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics Experience with cloud side IoT platform such as Losant, ThingsBoard, AWS, AzureExperience with design of electrical distribution systems and their componentsFamiliarity with IoT communication protocols such as LoRa, LTE, MQTTExperience with analytical tools such as MATLAB, R, or PythonExperience with rapid prototyping tools such as Node Red or MicropythonPreferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other CharacteristicsFamiliarity with National Instruments LabVIEW toolsExperience with electrical design in the context of chemical process plantsKnowledge of electrical area hazard classification systemsProficiency with laboratory bench instrumentation and prototype construction is a plusEmbedded C/C++ firmware development experience with STM32 or other ARM families is a plusEducation and ExperienceB.S.
