Job Title:  BYU Athletics Football Team Historian & Recruiting Assistant

Job Summary

The Football Team Historian & Recruiting Assistant is a part-time, contract position within the Football Program. This role is responsible for preserving, documenting, and sharing the history and legacy of the football program, and supporting recruiting initiatives in collaboration with the coaching staff. The position combines archival and storytelling functions with outreach and relationship support for student-athlete recruitment.

What You'd Be Responsible For

Program History & Documentation

  • Research, compile, and maintain the historical records, stories, statistics, and memorabilia of the football program. 
  • Create and update historical content for use in media guides, game programs, team publications, and the athletics website. 
  • Assist in developing and organizing archives, including oral histories, interviews with alumni, and historic game documentation. 
  • Serve as a resource for coaches, staff, and external partners seeking historical context or materials. 

Recruiting Outreach

  • Support the football coaching staff in recruiting outreach by helping maintain relationships with high schools, families, and community stakeholders. (Note: the position supports outreach and relationship development only, not active recruitment or NCAA-regulated recruiting activities.) 
  • Assist with liaison efforts that improve communication and understanding between the program and recruiting communities. 
  • Collaborate with the coaching staff and athletics compliance to ensure all communication and activities follow NCAA and institutional guidelines. 

Content & Communication

  • Assist in producing written and multimedia content reflecting the program's history for use in team communications, alumni outreach, and special events. 
  • Present historical insights at team events, alumni gatherings, and on occasion at community or recruitment-related events.

What Qualifies You to Apply?

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Willingness to uphold and live by the university's Honor Code
  • All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend, which may be verified during the application process.

Preferred

  • Experience working with or volunteering with a Division I collegiate football team

Typical Starting Pay: Depends on Experience
