- Supervises the engineering activities (all disciplines) on a project, or designated portions of a project, for a global business unit.
- Plans and directs engineering assignments on the project.
- Provides engineering, technical, and managerial direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development and implementation for complex systems in the engineering discipline required to meet technical requirements.
- This project has moved past the design phase and is moving into the installation and construction phase.
- Responsible for assigned activities within an engineering discipline in support of facility and process construction and installation.
- Applies broad and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in the preparation of complex engineering analyses.
- Performs all aspects of work in engineering operations within discipline.
- Performs conventional design and analysis.
- Provides construction and project support.
- May lead projects and supervise the work of others.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Utilizes engineering technology to accomplish work.
- Makes recommendations and advises on system development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts.
- Performs risk assessments and analysis employing modeling and simulation techniques.
- Provides system integration within and across disciplines
- May provide direction to technicians.
- Continuously improves work processes to meet customer needs.
- Duties may include preparation of calculations, drawings, data sheets, specifications, reports, reviews, studies and estimates (both material and engineering man-hour) working as an integral part of a project team.
- Typical drawings may include one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, lighting/power plans, installation details, feeder/circuit sizing, and conduit/cable schedules.
- The Engineer may conduct drawing searches in engineering records and will perform field investigation and walkdown work as required.
- This position may be subject to DOE Order 426.2, Personnel Selection, Training, and Qualification Requirements for DOE Nuclear Facilities. This DOE Order establishes entry-level requirements to ensure employees in the positions can successfully perform the requirements of the job.
- DoD and DoE experience is preferred
- Work may be required outside normal business hours and sometimes on short notice
- NQA1, glovebox systems, electrical and manufacturing experience a plus
- B.S Degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited college or university and 3 years of applicable progressive experience, degree may be substituted for experience
- Q Clearance preferred but at a minimum must have ability to qualify for a Q clearance.
